CREATIVE PAINTING FOR CHILDREN (AGED FROM 6 TO 12 YEARS)

The aim of the project is to make children feel they are emotionally-engaged, active participants in creative expression through painting, by providing them with a creative learning experience. Using drawing and painting to put them in touch with imagination, bodily substance and instinct in order to create a close communicative link between the inner emotions and the outer world. The fundamental concept is the association “painting as the impulse for the creative spirit”. Using painting to encourage every child’s instinctive feelings in order to make them feel “artistically free”. This approach favours creativity, touching along the way on play, free exploration, improvisation and fun. Creating space for their irrationality, but systematically covering techniques and pictorial learning tools.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The ability to listen and thus to create.
Knowing how to use pencils and colours with confidence.
A basic understanding of chiaroscuro, the play of light and shade.
An appropriate use of colours in relation to their symbolic meaning.
The ability to draw or paint on both a small and a large scale.
All the drawings the children do will help them put together their own ideas for a final piece of work.
All the children will present their own final piece of work together with a poem that will help them describe it or the creative route they took, the latter only for older children.

ASSESSMENT METHODS:

Conscious participation, spontaneous cooperation, group and individual observation of their ability to relate and to express themselves.
Assessing the children’s motivation, interest in and attitude to the artistic disciplines.
An end-of-course exhibition will conclude the learning experience.
